Weeuns Country Folk Do Got A Sense Er Humor

* Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.* - Anon

So Jim and I were pulling out of the driveway last Sunday to go to church, and when I got to Sir Cluckington, I saw something white out of the corner of my eye and I did a double take.  I started laughing so hard I had to stop the car.  When I got down to some chuckles I got out and took pictures:

Well, this is just wrong!

Roosters do NOT lay eggs

There must have been about three dozen eggs of all kinds, brown, white, chicken, duck and turkey.  I haven't got a clue who did it, but what a photo op.  Unfortunately they didn't stay around long cause Gmar decided that someone was messing with her property and threw them all across the road.

Our trip to Kentucky was so enjoyable.  I guess I will blog a day at a time.

Sunday:

We left the house about 5 am.  It took about 11 hours to get to the rent cabin.  The drive through the blue ridge mountains was pretty cool.  It was foggy even at noon.  We went the northern route through West-By-God-Virginia.  It seemed that each valley had a community.  Even the larger cities were placed in valleys, beside a river.  Thus, the growth was long and narrow.

We got to the rent cabin at about 4:30.  The owners were there to hand off the keys and show us about the place.  It was very quaint.  There was a stream by the house, but it had been so dry that it was just a trickle.  It was a working farm so there were cows in the next pasture and horses a few pastures over.

We went to the nearby town of Paris to see about dinner and supplies and they were paving the main streets in town.  What a mess!  Also, there were a lot of businesses down town that had permanently closed down.  The economy sucks everywhere.  We finally found a grocery store and bought stuff for breakfasts and a few other things.  We ended up eating at a Mexican Restaurant.  The food was really good.  Apparently, Kentucky has a large Mexican population, just like North Carolina.  Then we went home and crashed.

What We Learned:  You can't buy beer on Sunday anywhere in Kentucky!
