Garden Day

At last.  I had time to get back to the garden.  My sad garden, my forlorn garden, my WEEDY garden.  I had my nephew helping me so first I tilled between some of the rows to get rid of a mass of weeds.  Then we weeded by hand between the basil plants.  Then we put down newspaper and hay on top to keep down future weeds.  We did the same for the pole beans, wax beans and cucumbers.  Then I started in on the soy but ran out of newspaper.  So we did a good bit but there is a good bit left to go.  My nephew also cut the front yard, the back yard and the back forty.

I went to check on the baybays and they had gotten out of their compound under the fence!  I shooed them back in and stopped up the hole.  They seem more independent of MB2 every day.  The tip of their wings are feathered now, and they are scratching their own food.  They are still really cute though.

My daughter got home from Fayetteville and we made strawberry jam from some old strawberries that our organic farmer had left over.  Turned out real good.  She's taking it home, along with some pickles that I had, so I can get more room for this year's harvest.

She and my nephew have to go home to Texas tomorrow.  So sad.  It was a very short trip but it was nice to see her.

I couldn't take any pictures today because she had my camera, so just words and a really short blog today.  I am going to eat dinner and visit some more while I can.
