Migrants Ahoy

Well, the migrants showed up across the road yesterday.  Bad news for my last chicken flock.  Better not be bad news for my current flock.  I spent the better part of 2 hours moving my security camera from the front door cover to the driveway entrance.  If anyone comes in by the driveway, I should be able to catch them on camera, whether on vehicle or on foot.  A trail camera is really the ideal security camera out here in the country.

I had a time getting it off of the oak tree in the front yard cause the tree had kinda grown up around the bracket.  I finally pried it out and hope I didn't hurt the tree too much.  I filled the screw holes left behind with some sealant caulk to keep the bugs out.
scarred for life?  I hope not.

The worst part is that I was trying to pry the thing out with a hammer for about 5 minutes before I remembered that the box was screwed to the tree.  I felt SO bad.  Once I got the screws out, the box kinda lifted out of its niche.  I'm such an abuser.

But I still drilled holes in a new tree.

It's easy to poach a chicken, harder to poach a tree.

After that ordeal, I went down to the church and planted three butterfly plants that my auntie gave me for my butterfly garden.  While I was there, I pulled a few weeds and moved some of the plants around as I had a bunch of the same kind congregated in one corner.  This is an EOG (Equal opportunity garden) and there will be no segregation.

After that, to bridge.  My first round was GREAT, but the second and third sucked.  But I had fun.  It gets me out and using my brain once a week, so me not loose all mouth talkings with head.

Groceries, then home.

Once home, I immediately counted my cockers and all were there.  Then I got a shot of the bag baybays.  I think there might be three.

still uglier than sin

After, I decided that I felt like cooking so I made a cole slaw with cabbage, carrots, cilantro, celery seed and green onions, with a razzberry vinegrette marinade.

And garden peas.  I have always hated garden peas until now.  These were just picked yesterday and they are GOOD.  I cooked them with potatoes and vegetable boullion.  So tasty.  Therefore, I no longer hate garden peas unless they are more than one day old.

I took Jim's failed flat bread (no it didn't rise, it just got hard) and turned it into garlic warm hard flat bread.  I also made a batch of cosmos with the kit from Duplin winery (cosmo crystals mixed with wine).  They are very palatable.

So thats all the news for today.

  2. If I catch ANYONE with a chicken, I will have their illegal butts arrested.
