And One to Go

I got one more BAYBAY today.  I actually got to see it hatch.  It was very cool.  The last egg didn't make it.  There was a hole in it but no movement.  But I estimated about 4 chicks out of 8 eggs and was accurate.  Actually, I read, after the fact, that 4-5 chicks is max for one mother.

I couldn't watch them much today as it was rainy this PM.

I went to the church to paint the shed this morning with one of my neighbors.  We got the first coat on the two sides and had just rolled out the back when it started to rain.  I think most of the paint on the back wall will end up on the ground.  Oh well.  We need the rain.

Back home, between showers, I got my first garden harvest.  Snow peas.  yum yum.  I will stir fry them up for dinner tonite.  I think I will pick some of the red lettuce as well.  A few plants are ready.

first harvest.  good for one meal
Unfortunately, I planted my garden peas, my snow peas and my sugar snaps willy nilly along the fence so I have no idea which is which.  I have to be more careful in harvest cause the snow peas have a more tender hull.  So dinner tonite may be somewhat chewy.

I shut momma and baybays up early today as the rain is really coming down and I don't want the little cockers to get wet.  They are so cute.  They will come out and peep and eat and drink then will worm their way under MB2 very quickly.  This is the only way to hatch eggs.  Up with live incubators, Down with light bulbs!  Where are the chickens with choppers?

love the above link

It stopped raining so I couldn't resist a couple more pictures.

That's all the cuteness anyone can stand for one day.
