Bad News, Good News.

First, the bad news.  Another of the girls failed to turn up last night so I am down to 9 and JW.  I'm going to fire his butt.  He is NOT doing his job.  I'm now hoping that MB2 has lots of fertile eggs.

Now the good news. I put a big dent in the garden spot on the back forty.  I finished tilling where the tomatoes go and I got out all the clods and raked where the melons and peppers go.  I drove the fence posts around all and am ready to hang the fence.  I really just want to keep the chickens and rabbits out.  The deer have not been a problem.

Now the bad news.  The grass in the old garden is terrible.  It's those little sprigs that are sprouting ALL OVER where the collards and the lettuce are.  There must be 5 shoots per square inch.  I don't know if I even want to try to keep up with these.  I need to get some straw down to keep the weeds at bay.  But the good book says I have 5 days of non planting time, so maybe I can get this done.  Although, we still have to finish the church shed, build a small coop for the hoped for chicks, fix the lawn mower, hang the fence, made a garden gate, clean the church yard.....and so forth.  Not an emergency, but MIGHTY pressin'.

Now the good news.  Had a nice long walkies today and have a few of pics of same:
