Egg Gone It

Well, this morning I caulked the brooder house then went to Wilmington for supplies.  I dropped off some donation clothes to a next door neighbor (that means 2 miles down the road in country speak), picked up some church histories to mail to an interested party in Lumberton then headed for the city.  Got the histories mailed then went to the mall to get something to wear for Homecoming.  I am between sizes and didn't have anything decent to wear.  Found a dress 1/2 off (the price, not the dress) at Belks and bought a couple three unmentionables at the same time as all of mine are raggedy.

first new dress in about 6 years.

When I got home, I buried the next irrigation line and put in a row of red potatoes and some new mexico peppers and some jalapeno peppers.  I also put some onions between some of of the collards, where I had holes.  That leaves the other potatoes, the tomatoes and another row of corn to plant, and of course, WEEDING and mulching.  Oh and I have some garlic chives to put in and some green onion seed to start.

Got the shavings in the brooder house, set up the feeder, the waterer and the grit.
home sweet home for one and kids

I got MB2 off the nest and she didn't look good.  Her nostrils were crusty.  Then I noticed, when transferring eggs, that there were only 6 and one of those had what looked like yolk smeared on the outside.  I didn't see any signs of broken egg shells or egg innards in the nest.  I wonder if she broke and ate two of her eggs???  Anyway, I made the move and she got on the new nest with the 6 remaining eggs.

OK, here I am

JW spent some time with her and they were making soft noises back and forth.  I wonder what they were discussing.  I hope all is well with the rest of the eggs.  They are due to hatch Monday and Tuesday.

I felt guilty as I have not done walkies with the dogs in a couple of days, since I have been so busy, so we played fetch for a while.

Throw the ball!

Fetch the ball...in the water!

Where's my ball????

Buddy takes a break

By now it is time to shut the chickens up so we'll see how MB2 does in the brooder tonight.

Still wonder about those 2 eggs...

  1. Luv all the pictures! Hope Momma loves her single family dwelling. It does need some homey stuff-pillows are always tasteful.
