But I couldn't eat any.
Started the day by picking 5 gallons of strawberries for our local organic farmer. We kinda have a deal that if I help him with the picking, I can get the culls at the end of the season to make wine. Last year was a bad year, but this year they are gorgeous! He likes me to pick cause when I harvest, I do NOT eat even one bite. Never have. Anyway, some of the berries were the size of my fist and they just looked so sweet.
I was able only to pick a row and a fourth. He's got 6 rows all together, but his pickers like to see me come cause that is less they have to do.
Anyway, as a bonus, I got two heads of red lettuce, some collards and 2 bags of arugula. He also gave me some garlic chives to set out.
After that, Jim and I went to work some more on the church shed. We got one side boarded and 1/2 of the last side as well. We are running out of time as it has to be completed, caulked and painted by May 1st for Homecoming. The caulking alone will be a nightmare, and guess who gets stuck with doing it. The wood siding is terrible for splinters. I still have one in my thumb and I can't get it out. I've almost chewed through the thumb pad looking for it. But I did learn how to use a chop saw today. What fun! Farm implements and power tools. That's the ticket.
After that, I had to come home to fertilize and till the back forty for the seeds that I have to plant tomorrow. I also had to cut some more drip line and lay it out. I have yet to get it buried, but I ran out of time. I have to bury it tomorrow, make my rows and plant my melons and peppers before 10:30 as I am committed to go to a musical concert/contest with one of my aunties.
I didn't have time for walkies or pictures today. And the cockers were being very bad. They would NOT get in the pen. I had to chase them through the woods and got all scratched up from the brambles. They can just duck under. And the mosquitos were terrible. But I would not give up all the scratches, splinters, cockers, mosquito bites for anything.
Gotta love the country.
Maybe pictures tomorrow.
bak bak
They can not duck under- they are chickens you goof ball
